Structural Inspections
The mechanics that we employ in a structural inspection are no different than what is provided by many home inspection firms, i.e., a visual inspection with an interior floor level survey. The advantages of our structural inspections are as follows:
- It is an engineering report rather than a home inspection report. It is signed and sealed by a Professional Engineer.
- All homes in our area of out of level to some degree. We have been taking level surveys for over 24 years and have approximately 16,000 reference points. We use this data to compare the differential in a particular residence to median differentials of similar properties in that area to provide a frame of residence for our clients.
- We make specific repair recommendations with respect to deficiencies or conditions that can lead to additional differential movement.
- We can provide engineering plans for any repairs that may need to be done.
- Our structural reports can be incorporated into our home inspection reports for a fee much smaller than we charge for a separate structural inspection. Real estate agents tell us it costs their client less to use us on a home inspection than to use another home inspection firm and then hire us for a separate structural inspection if the home inspection points out a potential structural issue.
